Description
Ce scarabée a été découvert dans la main droite du défunt inhumé dans une sépulture datant de la période de transition Kerma Ancien-Kerma Moyen. Il est donc très ancien. La pâte est légère et grumeleuse et l'émail imparfaitement réparti, mais la facture est égyptienne avec tous les détails anatomiques figurés à l'exception du prothorax et des élytres. Trois signes prophylactiques ornent le plat: l'oeil-oudjat, la couronne rouge et le signe nefer ("beau, bon, parfait").

This beetle was discovered in the right hand of the deceased buried in a tomb dating to the transitional period between the Old Kerma and Middle Kerma periods. It is thus very old. The paste is light and friable and the enamel imperfectly distributed, but the manufacture is Egyptian with all the anatomical details portrayed except for the prothorax and the elytres. Three prophylactic signs decorate the flat side: the udjat-eye, the red crown and the nefer sign ("beautiful, good, perfect").
