Dit kleine vaasje is ontdekt in Abydos tijdens opgravingen van J. Garstang in 1908-1909. Het diende om kohl te bewaren, het cosmetica produkt bij uitstek om zich op te maken, maar ook om de ogen te beschermen tegen de zonnestralen. Het vaasje was waarschijnlijk voorzien van een deksel dat nu echter verdwenen is.

Ce petit vase a été découvert à Abydos lors des fouilles de J. Garstang en 1908-1909. Il servait à contenir du khôl, produit cosmétique par excellence pour se maquiller mais aussi pour protéger les yeux contre les rayons du soleil. Le vase était vraisemblablement pourvu d'un couvercle qui a disparu.

Dieses kleine Gefäß wurde 1908-1909 von J. Garstang bei Grabungen in Abydos gefunden. Es diente der Aufbewahrung von Kohl, der Augenschminke par excellence, die gleichzeitig die Augen vor den Sonnenstrahlen schützte. Das Gefäß besaß wahrscheinlich einen - nicht erhaltenen - Deckel.

Serviva a contenere del khol, prodotto cosmetico per eccellenza per truccarsi ma anche per proteggere gli occhi contro i raggi del sole. This tiny vase was discovered at Abydos during excavations conducted by J. Garstang in 1908-1909. It originally contained kohl, which was not only the perfect make-up but also protected the eyes against the sun's rays. The vase probably had a lid that has now disappeared.
