Description
A papyrus fragment from the collection of Zenon, the person in charge of commerce at the time of Apollonius, who was the minister of economy of Ptolemy the Second (284-246 BC.). Zenon was known for his activity and skill in managing the affairs of Apollonius. In this document it is clear that he was committed to obtain quantities of incense and perfumes, which were imported from Yemen and East Africa. Perfumes and incense had been imported into Egypt since the time of the Old Kingdom.

Un fragment de papyrus de la collection de Zénon. Zénon s'occupait de commerce à l'époque d'Apollonius, ministre de l'économie de Ptolémée Deux (284-246 avant Jésus-Christ). Zénon était connu pour son sens des affaires et dirigeait brillamment celles d'Apollonius. Dans ce document, il est clair qu'il était chargé d'enregistrer les quantités d'encens et les parfums qu'il se procurait du Yémen et d'Afrique de l'est. Parfums et encens sont importés en Egypte depuis le temps de l'Ancien Empire.
قطعة من بردية من مجموعة "زينون" الذي كان مسئولا عن التجارة في زمن "أبولونيوس"؛ وزير الاقتصاد في عهد بطلميوس الثاني (284-246 ق.م.). وكان "زينون" معروفا بنشاطه ومهارته في إدارة شئون "أبولونيوس"، وتوضح هذه الوثيقة أنه كان ملزما بالحصول على كميات من البخور والعطور التي كانت تستوردها مصر من اليمن وشرق أفريقيا. وقد كانت مصر تستورد البخور والعطور منذ عصر الدولة القديمه.
