The mummy of a crocodile with elaborate bandaging in linen of two different colours, the features of the crocodile have been painted onto the head. The crocodile was sacred to the god Sobek whose cult centres were at Kom Ombo in Upper Egypt and the Faiyum region, where Shedyt, later known as Crocodilopolis, was located. Crocodile mummies can still be seen at the Graeco-Roman temple of Kom Ombo.
