The 'Ramesses Girdle', a linen cloth 5.2m in length, tapering from 127mm to 48mm in width. The design consists of stripes,zig-zags,dots and rows of ankh-signs in coloured linen. At one end is the now deteriorated cartouche of Ramesses III with his second regnal year date. The band was probably woven on a simple loom, it has been estimated that it would have taken approximately three to four months to complete. The girdle would have been wound around the waist several times and secured by pulling the narrow tasselled end through the two loops at the wide end.
