Description
Several amulets were placed in a rich tomb of the Kerma necropolis of Mirgissa/Iken, some of which were made of gold (see L 858 and L 942). Complementing these were three falcon figures, a likely reference to the god Horus. One is made from translucent amethyst and is pierced crosswise at the neck ( 0,7 x 0,6 x 0,2 cm), the other two, of which only the silhouette are depicted, from white limestone (?) pierced at chest-level (0,8 x 0,5 0,2 cm). Also three scarabs of green enamel joined side to side, the colour of which has partially faded, with a flat surface carved with a braided motif (1,3 x 0,65 x 0,45 cm); a baboon (?) made of green enamel (0,8 x 0,4 x 0,25 cm); a pyramid-shaped pendant with grooves made of polished gabbro (0,85 x 0,6 x 0,5 cm); a biconal bead fashioned from gold leaf (0,3 x 0,3 cm); two round beads made from a green-coloured oxidised cuprous metal, which is still partially covered by gold leaf (0,35 x 0,35 cm ).
