Description
The menat amulet was often found around the neck of the mummy, in the place where a counterpoise was usually found. This piece, made of light green faience, has a pierced loop. The use of the menat as an amulet is known from the New Kingdom down into the Ptolemaic Period.

Menat-amuletten werden vaak om de nek van de mummie gelegd, op de plaats waar gewoonlijk een tegengewicht hing. Dit exemplaar, gemaakt van lichtgroene faience, heeft een doorboord oogje. Het gebruik van de menat als amulet is bekend van het Nieuwe Rijk tot in de Ptolemeïsche Periode.
Ce genre d'amulette en forme de ménat entoure souvent le cou d'une momie, à l'endroit où l'on trouvait habituellement un contrepoids. Cette pièce, en faïence vert clair, comporte un trou de suspension. L'utilisation du ménat en tant qu'amulette est attestée du Nouvel Empire à la Période Ptolémaïque.
Das Menat-Amulett wurde bei der Mumie häufig zum Nacken gewickelt, wo ja der zweckmäßige Platz des Gegengewichts ist. Das vorliegende Amulett aus hellgrüner Fayence besitzt einen durchbohrten Ösenaufsatz. Die Verwendung des Menats als Amulett ist vom Neuen Reich bis in die Ptolemäerzeit belegt.
L'amuleto menat era spesso deposto sul collo delle mummie, proprio nel luogo destinato a questo contrappeso. Questo esemplare, di fayence verde chiara, ha un occhiello per appenderlo. L'uso della menat come amuleto è attestato dal Nuovo Regno sino al Periodo Tolemaico.
O amuleto menat é muitas vezes encontrado no pescoço da múmia, onde se encontrava normalmente o contrapeso. Esta peça, em faiança verde claro, tem um orifício. O uso do menat como amuleto ocorre a partir do Império Novo e continua até ao Período Ptolemaico.
