Description
Bronze figure of an ibis, the bird used in Egyptian iconography to depict Thoth, god of learning. For both practical and symbolic reasons, the beak rests on an ostrich plume, symbol of what is right. Bronze figures were cast in large numbers in the Late Period, and deposited in shrines as votive offerings.

Bronzen ibisfiguur, de vogel die in de Egyptische iconografie gebruikt werd om Thoth af te beelden, de god van de wijsheid. Om zowel practische als symbolische redenen rust de bek op een struisvogelveer, het symbool van het juiste. In de Late Periode werden bronzen beeldjes in groten getale gegoten en in heiligdommen als votiefgaven neergezet.
Figure en bronze d'un ibis, l'oiseau qui représentait Thoth, dieu du savoir, dans l'iconographie égyptienne. Pour des raisons pratiques et symboliques, le bec repose sur une plume d'autruche, symbole de ce qui est juste. A Basse Époque, un grand nombre de figures en bronze ont été façonnées et déposées dans des sanctuaires en guise d'offrandes votives.
Bronzefigur eines Ibis, des in der ägyptischen Ikonographie zur Darstellung des Weisheitsgottes Thoth verwendeten Vogels. Aus praktischen wie symbolischen Gründen ruht der Schnabel auf einer Straußenfeder, dem Symbol des Richtigen. Bronzefiguren wurden in der Spätzeit in großen Mengen gegossen und als Votivgaben in Schreinen niedergelegt.

Per ragioni pratiche e simboliche, il becco riposa su una piuma di struzzo, simbolo di ciò che è giusto. Figure in bronzo erano fuse in grande quantità in Epoca Tarda, e deposte in templi come offerte votive.
Figura em bronze, de íbis, o pássaro utilizado na iconografia egípcia para representar Tot, o deus da aprendizagem. Por motivos tanto simbólicos como práticos, o bico repousa numa pena de avestruz, símbolo do que está certo. Figuras de bronze eram moldadas em grandes quantidades, na Época Baixa, e depositadas em capelas, como oferendas votivas.

Por motivos tanto prácticos como simbólicos, el pico se apoya sobre una pluma de avestruz, símbolo de lo que es correcto.
