The Global Egyptian Museum

Deze houten spoel is afkomstig uit de opgravingen van W. F. Petrie te El-Lahoen in 1905. Het werktuig, dat uit het Middenrijk zou kunnen dateren, diende om linnen of wol te spinnen. De schijven waren vaak voorzien van een haakje om de draad te leiden.

Ce fuseau en bois provient des fouilles de W. F. Petrie à El-Lahoun en 1905. L'instrument, qui pourrait dater du Moyen Empire, servait à filer le lin ou la laine. Les disques étaient souvent pourvus d'un crochet pour mener le fil.

Diese Holzspindel stammt aus den Grabungen, die W.F. Petrie 1905 in el-Lahun durchführte. Das Gerät, das wohl in das Mittlere Reich datiert, diente dem Spinnen von Leinen oder Wolle. Die Scheiben waren häufig mit einem Haken versehen, der den Faden führte.

Questo fuso di legno proviene dagli scavi di W.F. Petrie a El-Lahoun nel 1905. Lo strumento, che potrebbe datare al Medio Regno, serviva a filare il lino o la lana. I dischi erano spesso muniti di un gancio per condurre il filo.

This bobbin comes from the excavations of W. F. Petrie at El-Lahun in 1905. The instrument, which could date from the Middle Kingdom, served to thread linen or  wool. The discs were often provided with a hook for leading the thread.
