Description
A statue of the God Hermes, known to the Romans as Mercury, is represented with a graceful naked body and with a cloak covering only his shoulders and hanging down his back. He is wearing a shoe, which is completely apparent, on his left foot, which is slightly more bent than the right foot. The left hand is resting on a support; the right arm is cracked. Hermes is famous for his role as the messenger of the gods, particularly of Zeus, who used to charge him with tasks that he would carry out very quickly.
