Description
Often, the deceased of the Classic Kerma period was buried on a bed made from a wooden frame with leather straps. The feet could represent animal legs or be similar to modern angarebs. At the footend of the bed, a wooden plank possibly decorated with geometric patterns was carved in ivory, painted red and attached with a peg: here, in tombe 20 C, with three stars with four diamond-shaped points; in tomb 28, the stars are located beneath a frieze of sixteen triangles. In Kerma, some beds were decorated with processions of gods or with plant motifs.
