Description
This big oval-shaped quartz piece of stone was used as a pestle to crush products, such as red ochre, as demonstrated by the percussion marks and traces of a red colour at one of the extremities. The other end has been used as well, but wear marks are not as numerous and there are no traces of red.

Ce grand galet en quartz de forme ovale était utilisé comme pilon pour broyer des produits, éventuellement de l'ocre rouge, comme le montrent les marques de percussion parfois associées à des traces rouges, visibles à l'une des deux extrémités. L'autre extrémité a également été utilisée, mais les marques y sont peu nombreuses et on n'y voit aucune trace rouge.
