Description
From the 19th Dynasty, the "shabti-servants" were watched by the "overseer", often called "greats of ten". This anepigraphic shabti, which was discovered at Abydos during the excavations of J. Garstang in 1908-1909, posseses all the characteristics of an "overseer": it is dressed in a large kilt and it holds a whip in its hands. The frontal band tied behind the head could indicate that the statuette dates from 21st Dynasty or from the 22nd Dynasty.
