Description
A lovely gold necklace in the shape of cowrie shells with some beads. The use of cowrie shell amulets is known as early as Predynastic times. The shape was believed to mimic female genitalia and girdles were made from cowrie shells to symbolically protect the area.

Prachtig gouden halssnoer in de vorm van porseleinslakschelpen met enkele kralen. Het gebruik van porseleinslakschelpamuletten is als vanaf de predynastieke tijd bekend. De vorm zou een imitatie zijn van de vrouwelijke geslachtsdelen. Men maakte gordels van porseleinslakschelpen om dit deel van het lichaam symbolisch te beschermen.
Beau collier en or composé de cauris et de quelques perles. L'usage des cauris en tant qu'amulettes est connu depuis la Période Prédynastique. La forme de ces coquillages évoquait les organes génitaux féminins. Des ceintures de cauris étaient confectionnées pour protéger symboliquement des espaces.
Ein schöner Halsschmuck aus Gold in Form von Kaurischnecken mit einigen Perlen. Die Verwendung von Kaurischneckenamuletten ist bereits aus prädynastischer Zeit bekannt. Die Form galt als Imitation der weiblichen Genitalien und aus Kaurischnecken hergestellte Gürtel sollten diese Stelle auf symbolische Weise beschützen.

Un precioso collar de oro con forma de concha de cauri con algunas cuentas. El uso de las conchas de cauri como amuletos se conoce desde tiempos predinásticos. Se creía que la forma imitaba la de los genitales femeninos y para proteger simbólicamente la zona se hicieron cinturones con ellos.
