Thoth was the god of knowledge, writing, and artists. This statue depicts him in his typical manner, as a man with the head of an ibis, a large bird of the Nile. He wears a long wig and a very narrow kilt. With both hands, he holds a vase containing a liquid that he would pour on the head of a kneeling worshipper.
