Term in Egyptology for a quick and simplified way of writing in which signs are stylised and details omitted. This is most obvious with cursive hieroglyphs, which sometimes look like hieratic. Many of the Book of the Dead manuscripts written on papyrus contain signs that are more or less cursive.
