Miniature "tulip" vase

2372.jpg

Miniature "tulip" vase, which was placed in a child's burial. The shape is ypical: wide flat base, S-shaped body profile, flared rim. The fine, homogeneous clay made from Nile mud is very shiny and is covered with a red slip. Couloured red, it has a black rim and an additional black line in the middle. The bottom of the vessel was pierced in a ritual act, preventing the reuse of this object.
