A fragment from a Late Period coffin, depicting Amenhotep I as a sphinx - a lion with the head of a king, the very embodiment of pharaonic powers. Amenhotep I was worshipped locally at the Theban necropolis and Deir el-Medinah as a divine guardian of the area.
