Description
A fragment from a Late Period coffin, depicting Amenhotep I as a sphinx - a lion with the head of a king, the very embodiment of pharaonic powers. Amenhotep I was worshipped locally at the Theban necropolis and Deir el-Medinah as a divine guardian of the area.

Fragment van een sarcofaag uit de Late Periode die Amenhotep I als sfinx afbeeldt, een leeuw met het hoofd van de koning, die de ware personificatie van de koninklijke macht is. Amenhotep I werd plaatselijk, in de Thebaanse necropolis en in Deir el-Medina als de goddelijke wachter van het gebied vereerd.
Fragment d'un sarcophage de Basse Époque représentant Amenhotep I sous les traits d'un sphinx, lion à tête humaine, symbole de la puissance souveraine. Amenhotep I faisait l'objet d'un culte local, dans la nécropole thébaine et à Deir el-Médineh où il était considéré comme le divin gardien de la région.
Ein Fragment eines Sarges der Spätzeit, auf dem Amenophis I. als Sphinx dargestellt ist - als Löwe mit Königskopf, die wahrhaftige Verkörperung pharaonischer Macht. Amenophis I. wurde lokal in der thebanischen Nekropole und in Deir el-Medina als göttlicher Wächter der Region verehrt.
