Pottery vessels were known in Ancient Egypt from the beginning of history and the Egyptians produced innumerable pottery vessels for daily use.
Many such vessels were discovered in their tombs, as they believed that the dead would need them in the afterlife.
This reddish amphora was found in the sea at Alexandria. It has a long neck and a conical body. Under the rounded rim the two long handles begin and they end on the shoulder. The pointed, lower part of the conical body ends with a small ball.
