Bes vase

4887.JPG

The upper part of the vessel is shaped like the face mask of the god Bes. The details of his jester's physiognomy have been largely added in paint. The funnel-shaped neck with a frieze of leaves adorns the head of this popular deity, rendering his usual feather crown.
