Description

Perfectly polished ring-shaped ivory bracelet.  The craftsmanship of the artisan who gave this ornament a slightly XXX shaped attests to the high degree of quality reached during this time. Ivory was a material particularly appreciated by the Nubians and more accessible than nowadays, as the septentrional limit of the habitat of the elephant was then located to the north of Khartoum.

Bracelet annulaire en ivoire parfaitement poli. La maîtrise de l'artisan qui a donné à cet ornement une forme légèrement oreillée témoigne de la qualité atteinte dès cette époque. L'ivoire est une matière particulièrement prisée par les Nubiens et plus facilement accessible que de nos jours car la limite septentrionale de l'habitat de l'éléphant se situait alors au nord de Khartoum.
