Description
Sherd from a lovely Old Kerma ceramic vessel: a hemispherical bow with an inward folded lip of fine red clay with a black rim. The rim and the inside have been blackned by soot and are very shiny. The surface has been burnished, probably with a pebble, giving it the rippled effect so commonly found on A-Group vessels. It was covered with a slip and polished. The decoration is very common: a double zigzag under the lip.
