Description
These four pendants made from shells were the only corporal adornments found on one of the skeletons of a multiple burial from the late Middle Kingdom at Mirgissa/Iken. Pierced at the narrowest extremity, these would have been strung together as a necklace. These neritic shells are from the Red Sea and are an additional demonstration of the contacts between the coast and the Nile Valley.
