This tiny vase with a lid was discovered at Abydos during excavations conducted by J. Garstang in 1908-1909. It originally contained kohl, which was not only the perfect make-up but also protected the eyes against the sun's rays.

Dit kleine vaasje met deksel is ontdekt in Abydos tijdens opgravingen van J. Garstang in 1908-1909. Het diende om kohl te bewaren, het cosmetica produkt bij uitstek om zich op te maken, maar ook om de ogen te beschermen tegen de zonnestralen.
Ce petit vase avec couvercle a été découvert à Abydos lors des fouilles de J. Garstang en 1908-1909. Il servait à contenir du khôl, produit cosmétique par excellence pour se maquiller mais aussi pour protéger les yeux contre les rayons du soleil.
Dieses kleine Gefäß mit Deckel wurde 1908-1909 von J. Garstang bei Grabungen in Abydos gefunden. Es diente als Behälter für Kohl, die Augenschminke par excellence, die gleichzeitig als Schutz der Augen gegen die Sonnenstrahlen diente.
