General Comment
Preservation: The lower part of the shabti has been repaired. Iconography: Shabtis were magical substitutes for the deceased, made to carry out everyday tasks on his behalf in the Afterlife. From the XVIIIth Dynasty onwards more and more of these figures were placed in the tomb, often equipped with agricultural implements, in later periods the shabtis were given their own Overseers. The figure was inscribed with a standard spell invoking the shabti to perform all tasks required of it.
