Description
Double ostrich plume with sun-disk within the lower area, from a figure of the composite god Ptah-Sokar-Osiris. Such figures were placed in rich burials from the Late Period to the Ptolemaic Period, and seem intended to place the deceased under the protection and regenerative power of the gods Ptah (crafts production), Sokar (earth) and Osiris (king of the dead). This double plume may belong to a Ptah-Sokar Osiris figure in the Kavanagh collection.
