Description
This amphora comes from the excavations of W.F Petrie at Herakleopolis Magna and is characterised by a very long belly and a cylindrical neck equipped with two handles and a smooth rim. Dating from the 2nd or 3rd century of our time, this type of receptacle served rather as a means of storage than as a means of transport.

Deze amfoor, afkomstig van de opgraving van W.F. Petrie in Herakleopolis Magna, onderscheidt zich door een zeer lange buik en een cilindrische hals, voorzien van twee oren en een platte rand. Het stuk dateert uit de 2e of 3e eeuw van onze jaartelling. Het werd meer voor opslag dan voor transportdoeleinden gebruikt.
Cette amphore provenant des fouilles de W. F. Petrie à Héracléopolis Magna se caractérise par une panse très longue et un col cylindrique pourvu de deux anses et un bord plat. Datant du IIe ou IIIe siècle de notre ère, ce type de récipient servait de moyen de stockage plutôt que de moyen de transport.
Diese Amphore stammt aus den Grabungen von W.F. Petrie in Herakleopolis Magna; sie besitzt einen sehr langgestreckten Körper und einen zylindrischen Hals mit zwei Henkeln und einem flachen Rand. Dieser Behältertypus, der in das 2. oder 3. Jhdt. n. Chr. datiert, diente eher als Speichergefäß denn als Transportmittel.
Quest'anfora proveniente dagli scavi di W.F. Petrie a Heracleopolis Magna si caratterizza per una pancia molto lunga e un collo cilindrico munito di due anse e di un bordo piatto. Datante al II o III secolo della nostra era, questo tipo di recipiente serviva come mezzo di stoccaggio piuttosto che come mezzo di trasporto.
Esta ânfora provém das escavaçöes de W. F. Petrie em Heracleópolis Magna e caracteriza-se por ter uma pança longa e um gargalo cilíndrico com duas asas e rebordo plano. Este tipo de recipiente, que data dos séculos II-III da nossa era, servia mais como meio de armazenamento que como meio de transporte.
Esta ánfora, que proviene de las excavaciones de W. M. F. Petrie en Heracleópolis Magna, se caracteriza por una panza muy alargada y un cuello cilíndrico provisto de dos asas de borde plano. Este tipo de recipiente, que data de del siglo II o III de nuestra era, se utilizaba más para almacenar que para transportar productos.
