Description
Small vessel of Egyptian alabaster designed to contain the classic black lead eye pigment of the ancient Egyptians (Arabic kohl), traces of which appear in the interior. The rim and separate flat lid are lost. The form is typical of the kohl containers in use during the Middle Kingdom. This example comes from the rich cemetery near modern Hu, ancient Hut-sekhem, regional capital for the seventh province of Upper Egypt.

Klein potje van Egyptisch albast bedoeld om het klassieke zwarte loodpigment van de oude Egyptenaren (Arabisch kohl) in te bewaren, waarvan aan de binnenkant nog sporen te zien zijn. Het afzonderlijke platte deksel en de rand van dit exemplaar ontbreken. De vorm is typerend voor kohlpotjes zoals die in het Middenrijk gebruikt werden. Dit exemplaar is afkomstig uit het rijke grafveld nabij het moderne Hoe, het oude Hoet-Sechem, provinciehoofdstad van de zevende provincie van Opper-Egypte.
Petit récipient en albâtre égyptien comportant des traces de galène noire, traditionnel fard pour les yeux des anciens Egyptiens (kohol arabe). Le bord et le couvercle plat manquent. Sa forme est typique des récipients à kohol du Moyen Empire. Cet exemplaire provient du luxueux cimetière proche de la moderne Hou, l'ancienne Hout-sekhem, capitale du septième nome de Haute Égypte.
Kleines Gefäß aus ägyptischem Alabaster, das die klassische Augenschminke der alten Ägypter aus Bleischwarz (arabisch Kohl) enthielt, von der sich im Inneren Spuren erhalten haben. Der Rand und der getrennt gearbeitete Deckel sind verloren. Die Form ist typisch für Kohlbehälter des Mittleren Reiches. Dieses Stück stammt aus der reichen Nekropole in der Nähe des modernen Hu, dem alten Hut-Sechem, das die Provinzhauptstadt des 7. oberägyptischen Gaues war.
Piccolo vaso di alabastro egizio finalizzato a contenere il classico pigmento di piombo per gli occhi, di colore nero, degli antichi egizi (il kohl arabo), le cui tracce sono ancora visibili nella parte interna. L'orlo ed il coperchio piatto separato sono perduti. La forma è tipica dei contenitori per kohl in uso durante il Medio Regno. Questo esemplare proviene dal ricco cimitero vicino alla moderna Hu, l'antica Hut-sekhem, capitale regionale della settima provincia dell'Alto Egitto.
Pequeno recipiente em alabastro egípcio para conter o pigmento clássico preto para os olhos (kohol em árabe), do qual ainda têm vestígios no interior. Não tem rebordo nem tampa. Esta forma é típica dos recipientes de kohol usados durante o Império Médio. Este exemplar é proveniente do cemitério abastado perto da moderna Hu, antiga Hut-Sekhem, capital regional da sétima província do Alto Egipto.
Pequeño recipiente de alabastro egipcio utilizado para contener el clásico pigmento de plomo negro de los antiguos egipcios (en árabe kohol), del cual se conservan restos en el interior. El borde y la tapa lisa han desaparecido. La forma es típica de los contenedores de kohol utilizados durante el Imperio Medio. Este ejemplo proviene del rico cementerio cercano a la moderna Hu, la antigua Hut-sejem, la capital regional de la séptima provincia del Alto Egipto.
