Description
Small vessel of Egyptian alabaster designed to contain the classic black lead eye pigment of the ancient Egyptians (Arabic kohl). This form is typical of the kohl containers in use during the Middle Kingdom. This example comes from the rich cemetery near modern Hu, ancient Hut-sekhem, regional capital for the seventh province of Upper Egypt.

Klein potje van Egyptisch albast bedoeld om het klassieke zwarte loodpigment van de oude Egyptenaren (Arabisch kohl) in te bewaren. De vorm is typerend voor kohlpotjes zoals die in het Middenrijk gebruikt werden. Dit exemplaar is afkomstig uit het rijke grafveld nabij het moderne Hoe, het oude Hoet-Sechem, provinciehoofdstad van de zevende provincie van Opper-Egypte.
Petit récipient en albâtre égyptien destiné à contenir la galène noire, traditionnel fard pour les yeux des anciens Egyptiens (kohol arabe). Il s'agit d'un bel exemple de récipients à kohol du Moyen Empire. Cet exemplaire provient du luxueux cimetière proche de la moderne Hou, l'ancienne Hout-sekhem, capitale du septième nome de Haute Égypte.
Kleines Gefäß aus ägyptischem Alabaster, das die klassische Augenschminke der alten Ägypter aus Bleischwarz (arabisch Kohl) enthielt. Diese Form ist typisch für Kohlbehälter des Mittleren Reiches. Dieses Stück stammt aus der reichen Nekropole in der Nähe des modernen Hu, dem alten Hut-Sechem, das die Provinzhauptstadt des 7. oberägyptischen Gaues war.
