Description
Necklace of carnelian barrel and spherical beads strung with hippopotamus-head amulets in carnelian, feldspar and amethyst. The stringing may be nineteenth century, but the amulets are probably all of the Middle Kingdom, when amethyst was highly favoured, and the beads may be of the same date.
