Description
This statue portrays the body of the god Thoth with the head of a bull. Thoth was referred to as the "Bull among the stars" in the Coffin Texts. He holds a ureaeus, or royal cobra, and wears a short kilt and a headdress with two horns between the sun disk. His arms are raised as if he were holding an object, probably a spear. Behind his head, a scarab holding a disk between its two front claws is engraved with open bird's wings. The base is engraved with hieroglyphic inscriptions. The statue is on top of a miniature papyrus column. The front and back of the base are held by two small papyrus flowers.
