Description
A fragment of an oil lamp, made of clay, is in the form of Beset, the spouse of the god Bes, lying down and holding a tambourine in her hand. Her hair is hanging on her shoulders and round her back in locks, and she has a feather-like crown on her head. It is noticeable that oil lamps had started to progress; artists did not just stop at geometrical and floral decorations, but rather started to use a new style, and to design the figure of a god or goddess to give a more aesthetic appearance to the lamp.

Ce fragment d'une lampe à huile en terre cuite représente Bastet, l'épouse du Dieu Bès, allongée avec un tambourin dans une main. Ses cheveux tombent sur ses épaules et dans son dos en boucles. Elle porte une couronne ressemblant à des plumes sur la tête. Il est important de noter que la fabrication des lampes à huile avait commencé à progresser: les artistes ne se limitaient plus aux ornementations géométriques et florales, mais commençaient à utiliser un nouveau style et à représenter des Dieux et des Déesses pour donner un aspect plus esthétique aux lampes.
مصباح زيتي صنع من الطين (الصلصال)، على هيئة المعبودة بست زوجة المعبود "بس"؛ وهي راقدة وممسكة بيدها بآلة الرق (دف صغير). وقد تدلى شعر بست على كتفيها، وحول ظهرها، في خصلات. وهي ترتدي تاجا شبه ريشي على رأسها. ومن الملاحظ أن مصابيح الزيت قد بدأت تتقدم؛ فلم يتوقف الفنانون عند الزخارف الهندسية والنباتية، وإنما شرعوا في استخدام أسلوب جديد وبتصميم شكل معبود أو معبودة: لكي يعطوا المصباح مظهرا فنيا.
