Description
This is a limestone head of Queen Berenice the Second, the wife of Ptolemy the Third. The hair is styled in the form of a diadem surrounding the head. The protruding eyes gaze directly forward and the face expresses a mood of sadness. The queen played an important part in supporting her husband in ruling the country. They jointly founded the Serapium in Alexandria, as well as temples in the southern part of the country, such as the temple at Edfu.

Une tête en calcaire de la reine Bérénice Deux, épouse de Ptolémée Trois. Ses cheveux sont coiffés en forme de diadème entourant sa tête. Les yeux exorbités regardent droit devant et le visage emprunte une expression de tristesse. La reine a énormement soutenu son mari dans son rôle de dirigeant du pays. Ensemble, ils ont fondé le Serapeum à Alexandrie, ainsi que les temples dans le sud du pays, tels que le temple d'Edfou.
رأس من الحجر الجيري لبرنيكي الثانية، زوجة بطلميوس الثالث. صفف شعرها على هيئة تاج إكليل (دياديم) يحيط بالرأس؛ وتحملق عيناها الجاحظتان إلى الأمام، ويعبر وجهها عن حالة مزاجية من الحزن. لعبت الملكة دورا مهما لمساندة زوجها في حكم البلاد، وأسسا معا السيرابيوم بالإسكندرية؛ إلى جانب معابد أخرى في جنوب البلاد، مثل معبد إدفو.
