The statue is one of the most perfect images of Amenemhat III. The king is represented as an aged man with deeply set eyes, protruding cheekbones, and protuberant ears. He sits on a throne with a low back and wears a sehndit and a nemes with uraues; on the temples there are small holes for attaching a beard made of another material (probably metal). On the front surface of the throne are carved two similar symmetrical inscriptions.

Probably from the collection of Castiglione; if so, acquired by the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1825 and kept in the Egyptian Museum of the Academy till 1862. The first record of the statue in the Hermitage dates back to 1871.

Comentario general
Text comment: If the inscriptions really mention Mut, this is the earliest known record of the goddess. However, the interpretation of the vulture hieroglyphs as Nekhbet is also possible (opinion of O.D.Berlev voiced in personal discussion).
