This enamelled terracotta amulet represents the djed-pillar, on top of which is an atef-crown. This pillar, which symbolised the backbone of Osiris, served as a ritual object during the mysteries of the god of the dead. In a funerary context, wrapped in the mummy, this amulet served to protect the deceased in the life in the Hereafter.
