Amarna relief

9962.jpg

This is the decorated face of a rectangular building block which has been detached. It bears a scene in shallow sunk relief, without inscriptions. Underneath the relief is a wide smoothed band which is divided from the scene above by a deeper-lying band framed by two incised lines. The scene shows two pylons or temple entrances, in front of which offerings are piled consisting of pieces of meat and jars on high stands. In between the two pylons and to the right are more jars, pieces of meat, and butchered bulls. The various images are placed on the same base line, beneath which there is a smooth narrow line.
