Stela of Kom Abou Bilou

BrE. IT 0007.jpg

This limestone monument is part of one of two types of stelae recovered from Kom Abou Bilou (for the other type see E.8210). The scene, which represents the deceased lying down on a bed, is framed by two bell-shaped columns carrying a tympan. From the right hand, the deceased holds out a dish to a child crouching at his feet. The two characters are wearing a simple tunic with folds marked by means of incisions. The perching jackal which stands out in the background seems to be a sort of emblem.
