A pair of sandals made from neatly plaited palm leaf with ornamental edging. The hole for the toe-strap is clearly seen. Egyptians went barefoot most of the time and sandals were reserved for special occasions. It was considered an honour to carry the sandals of a great man and the title 'Sandal-bearer' is attested from earliest times.
