BrE.1829(1).jpg
BrE.1829(2).jpg

This wooden comb has a double row of teeth and is taller than it is wide. The fine teeth set closely together were intended to clean and smooth the hair; the wider, larger teeth were used to brush tangles out of the hair. This undecorated specimen probably dates to the Byzantine Period.
