Standing Statue of Amenemhat the Third

EM-156-7-S1-9575_800x800[1].jpg

This statue was found with six other statues of the same king in the Karnak cachet at Luxor. Although only two of them are inscribed with a text that gives the names and epithets of King Amenemhat the third, all the statues have the same features and are sculpted in the same style.

The king is shown standing with his left leg forward, but both legs are broken off and missing. He is wearing the Nemes headdress and the royal Shendyt kilt. Both hands are lying on the kilt with the palms downward. The facial features are a real portrait of King Amenemhat the Third, characterized by his heavy eyelids, protruding cheeks, and square chin
