Description
Sherd of a typical Old Kerma bowl. The clay is very fine and black. The surfaces have been polished brick-red outside and beige inside. There is a carefully executed incised decoration below the lip consisting of alternating horizontal lines and diamonds filled with hatching. A carinated bowl with restricted mouth, this beautiful vessel is characteristic of the Old Kerma period.

Tesson provenant d'un bol caractéristique du Kerma Ancien. La pâte est très fine noire. Les surfaces sont lustrées rouge brique à l'extérieur et beige à l'intérieur. Le bol est caréné et l'ouverture, resserrée. Sous la lèvre a été incisé un décor très soigné: des lignes horizontales alternant avec des losanges hachurés. Cette production est caractéristique de la plus belle période du Kerma Ancien.
