Description
The ankh amulet was among the first amulets to be developed in Ancient Egypt. The significance of the sign is not in what it depicts but in its phonological value: ankh means "life". This amulet is made of green faience. The back pillar is pierced at the lower end of the knot.

Het Anch-amulet was een van de eerste amuletten die in het oude Egypte verschenen. De betekenis van het teken ligt niet in dat wat het afbeeldt, maar in zijn klankwaarde: Anch betekent "leven". Dit amulet is gemaakt van groene faience. De rugpijler is doorboord aan de onderkant van de lus.
L'amulette en forme de signe ânkh est parmi les premières à s'être répandues en Égypte ancienne. La signification de ce signe ne réside pas dans sa forme, mais dans sa valeur phonologique: Ànkh signifie "vie". Cette amulette est en faïence verte. Le pilier dorsal est percé à l'extrémité inférieur du noeud.
Das Anch-Amulett gehört zu den ersten in Ägypten entwickelten Amuletten. Die Bedeutung des Zeichens liegt nicht im abgebildeten Gegenstand, sondern ist durch den Lautwert der entsprechenden Hieroglyphe gegeben, der übersetzt "Leben" heißt. Dieses Amulett ist aus grüner Fayence hergestellt. Der Rückenpfeiler ist am unteren Ende der Kopfschlaufe durchbohrt.
