Description
A wooden shabti of Sethos I, the upper part of which still has a thick coating of bitumen or varnish. The figure wears a long, plain tripartite wig but carries no implements. The text covers the whole of the lower part of the body in six horizontal bands, the cartouches are clearly seen.

Houten oesjabti van Seti I, waarvan het bovenste gedeelte schuilgaat onder een dikke laag bitumen of vernis. De figuur draagt een lange simpele driedelige pruik maar heeft geen werktuigen in de handen. De tekst bedekt het gehele onderlichaam in zes horizontale banen, waarin de cartouches duidelijk te onderscheiden zijn.
Ouchebti en bois appartenant à Séthi I, dont la partie supérieure porte encore une épaisse couche de bitume ou de vernis. La figure est coiffée d'une longue et simple perruque tripartite, mais n'est munie d'aucun outil. Six bandes horizontales de texte couvrent entièrement la partie inférieure du corps. On aperçoit clairement les cartouches.
Ein Holzuschebti Sethos' I., auf dessen oberer Hälfte der dicke Überzug aus Bitumen oder Firnis noch erhalten ist. Die Figur trägt eine lange dreiteilige Perücke und hält keine Geräte. Der Text bedeckt die gesamte untere Körperhälfte in sechs horizontalen Zeilen, in denen die Kartuschen deutlich zu erkennen sind.
Usciabti in legno di Sethi I, la cui parte superiore presenta un rivestimento di bitume o vernice. La figura indossa una lunga parrucca tripartita ma non porta alcun utensile. Il testo, disposto in sei fasce orizzontali, ricopre l'intera parte inferiore del corpo ed i cartigli sono chiaramente visibili.
Estatueta funerária de Seti I, em madeira, cuja parte superior ainda apresenta forte camada de betume ou verniz. A figura usa peruca longa, lisa e tripartida e nao segura quaisquer instrumentos. O texto cobre toda a parte inferior do corpo em seis barras horizontais, as cartelas estao claramente perceptíveis.
Ushebti de madera de Sethy I; la parte superior todavía conserva una gruesa capa de betún o barniz. La figura lleva una larga peluca lisa, pero no herramientas. El texto cubre toda la parte inferior del cuerpo con seis líneas horizontales en las que se ven claramente los cartuchos.

Object''s History
The shabti was discovered by Belzoni in the Tomb of Sethos I and came into the private collection of Mrs Henrietta Gurney. In 1956 it was purchased as part of a large mixed collection from the Castle Museum, Norwich.
