Description
A small 'magic' clay ball containing human hair. It is sealed with small pricked holes. Such balls were believed to be magical and were used in the casting of spells, they were often found in houses at El-'Amarna. It was believed that possession of hair etc. gave the owner the power to harm the person from whom it was taken.

Kleine 'magische' bal van klei met daarin menselijke haren. Aan dergelijke ballen werd toverkracht toegedacht en ze werden gebruikt bij het zeggen van toverspreuken. Ze waren verzegeld, in dit geval met geprikte gaten en worden vaak in huizen in El-'Amarna aangetroffen. Men geloofde dat het bezit van haar de eigenaar de macht gaf om de persoon van wie het haar afkomstig was schade te doen.
Petite balle "magique" en argile contenant des cheveux humains. Elle est scellée et comporte des petits trous percés. Ces balles étaient considérées comme magiques et utilisées pour jeter des sorts. Elles ont été découvertes en grand nombre dans les maisons de El-`Amarna. On croyait pouvoir nuire à une personne dont on possédait les cheveux.
Eine kleine "Zauber"kugel aus Ton mit menschlichem Haar. Sie ist mit kleinen, eingestochenen Löchern versiegelt. Solche Kugeln galten als zauberkräftig und wurden zur Verhexung verwendet; sie fanden sich oft in Häusern in el-'Amarna. Man glaubte, daß der Besitz von Haar etc. dem Eigentümer Macht über denjenigen verlieh, von dem es stammte.
Piccola palla magica in argilla, contenente capelli umani. L'oggetto è sigillato con piccoli fori. Si riteneva che queste palle fossero magiche ed erano utilizzate nel pronunciamento di formule magiche. Se ne sono trovate molte ad El-'Amarna. Si riteneva che il possesso di capelli desse al proprietario la possibilità di danneggiare la persona da cui erano presi i capelli.
Pequena bola "mágica", em barro, contendo cabelo humano. Apresenta pequenas perfuraçoes picotadas. Estas bolas eram tidas como mágicas e eram utilizadas para o lançamento de feitiços, frequentemente encontradas em casas em El-`Amarna. Acreditava-se que a aquisiçao de cabelo conferiria poder sobre a pessoa da qual haviam sido retirados os cabelos.
Pequeña pelota «mágica» de arcilla con cabello humano. Está sellada con pequeños agujeros picados. Este tipo de pelotas eran consideradas mágicas y se utilizaban para lanzar encantamientos; a menudo se encuentran en casas de El-'Amarna. From excavations carried out at el-'Amarna by the Egypt Exploration Society during 1926-27. The ball was part of a large mixed collection purchased from the Castle Museum, Norwich, in 1956.
