Description
A fragment of a faience game board for Senet, with four pieces, from Abydos. The board has a blue/green glaze and the squares are painted on in black. Board games were very popular and were often depicted on wall paintings and included in funerary furniture. Senet is known from Predynastic times to the late Roman Period, today a similar game is still played in the Sudan.

Een fragment van een faience senet-spelbord met vier pionnen, uit Abydos. Het bord is blauw/groen geglazuurd en de hokjes zijn zwart geschilderd. Bordspelen waren zeer populair en werden vaak afgebeeld in muurschilderingen en meegegeven in het graf. Senet is bekend vanaf de Predynastische Periode tot de late Romeinse Periode; tegenwoordig wordt een vergelijkbaar spel nog steeds gespeeld in Soedan.
Fragment d'un jeu de senet en faïence bleu-vert, dont les carrés sont peints en noir, accompagné de quatre pièces, provenant d'Abydos. Ce type de jeu était très populaire et était souvent représenté dans les tombes ou inclus dans le mobilier funéraire. Le jeu senet est connu de l'époque préhistorique à la période romaine. Un jeu semblable est encore joué au Soudan.
Fragment eines Spielbretts aus Fayence für ein Senet-Spiel mit vier Spielfiguren aus Abydos. Das Brett besitzt eine blaue/grüne Glasur, während die Felder mit Schwarz aufgemalt sind. Spielbretter waren sehr populär, sind oft auf Wandmalereien dargestellt und wurden mit in die Grabausrüstung aufgenommen. Das Senet-Spiel ist von der prädynastischen bis in die späte römische Zeit bekannt. Ein ähnliches Spiel wird heute noch im Sudan gespielt.
Un frammento di una tavola da gioco per senet in faience, con quattro pezzi, da Abydos. Il tavolo ha una superficie vetrosa azzurro-verde, mentre i quadrati sono dipinti in nero. I giochi da tavola erano molto popolari ed erano spesso raffigurati sui dipinti murali e inclusi nella fornitura funeraria. Il senet è conosciuto dai tempi predinastici fino al periodo romano, oggi un gioco simile è ancora in uso in Sudan.
Um fragmento de um tabuleiro de faiança para o jogo "senet", com quatro peças, oriundo de Abidos. O tabuleiro apresenta um brilho azul esverdeado e os quadrados são pintados em preto. Jogos de tabuleiro eram muito populares, e eram muitas vezes representados em frescos e incluídos em mobiliário funerário. O jogo do "senet" é conhecido desde a Época Pré-dinástica até final do Período Romano. Hoje um jogo semelhante é ainda jogado no Sudão.
Fragmento de fayenza de un tablero del juego de senet, con cuatro piezas, proveniente de Abydos. El tablero posee un brillo azulado/verdoso, y las casillas o escaques están pintadas de negro. Los juegos de tablero eran muy populares, apareciendo frecuentemente en escenas pintadas y formando parte del ajuar funerario. El senet era conocido desde el periodo Predinástico hasta Época Tardo Romana. Hoy en día se juega a un juego parecido en Sudán.
