Description
A wooden headrest made in three pieces. It has an oval shaped base with the top centre raised up to form the beginning of a column. The shaft is smooth and circular in section, widening from top to bottom. The abacus and curve are as one piece, the abacus is really the top section of the shaft and is oval in section. The curve is wider in the centre than at the ends. The pieces are attached at the top and bottom of the shaft with tenons fitted into mortises in the base and curve.

Houten hoofdsteun, uit drie delen opgebouwd. De basis is ovaal waarvan het bovenstuk in het midden omhoogkomt om het begin van een zuil te vormen. De schacht is glad en rond en wordt breder naar de onderkant toe. Abacus en ronding zijn als uit een stuk, maar de abacus is eigenlijk het bovenste onderdeel van de schacht en ovaal in doorsnee. De ronding is wijder in het midden dan aan de uiteinden. De stukken zijn vanuit de schacht met tappen aan elkaar bevestigd.
Appui-tête en bois constitué de trois pièces. Le socle est ovale, surélevé au centre pour former le début d'une colonnette. Le fût est lisse et de section circulaire. Il s'élargit en allant vers le bas. L'abaque et l'arc forment une seule pièce. L'abaque, de section ovale, constitue réellement la section supérieure du fût. L'arc est plus large au centre qu'aux extrémités. Des mortaises pratiquées dans le socle et l'arc reçoivent les tenons fixés aux deux extrémités de la colonnette. Les pièces sont ainsi fixées ensemble.
Eine hölzerne Kopfstütze aus drei Teilen. Die ovale Basis ist in der Mitte erhaben und bildet so den Beginn einer Säule. Der Schaft ist glatt und rund und wird nach unten hin breiter. Der Abakus und der Bogen sind wie aus einem Stück gearbeitet, der Abakus mit ovalem Querschnitt ist eigentlich das obere Ende des Schaftes. Der Bogen ist in der Mitte breiter als an den Enden. Die Stücke sind mit Zapfen an den Enden des Schaftes, die in Nute an Basis und Bogen eingelassen sind, aneinander befestigt.
Poggiatesta in legno composto da tre pezzi. Presenta una base dalla forma ovale con la parte centrale sollevata a formare l'inizio di una colonna. Il fusto è liscio e circolare in sezione e si allarga dalla parte superiore a quella inferiore. L'abaco e l'asta sono un solo pezzo. L'abaco costituisce la sezione, di forma ovale, del fusto. L'asta è più ampia al centro che alle estremità. I pezzi sono attaccati nella parte superiore ed inferiore da viti inserite sulla base e sull'asta.
Encosto de cabeça, em madeira, feito em três peças. Tem base oval com topo central erguido, formando começo de coluna. O fuste é liso e com secçao circular, alargando do topo para a base. O ábaco e curva foram feitos numa só peça, sendo o ábaco a secçao superior do fuste, de secçao oval. A curva é mais larga no centro do que nas extremidades. As peças foram presas ao topo e base do fuste com cavilhas em encaixes na base e curva.
Apoyacabezas de madera formado por tres piezas. Tiene una base ovalada con el centro protuberante para formar el comienzo de una columna. El astil es liso y de sección circular; se ensancha desde la parte superior a la inferior. El ábaco y la curva son de una pieza; en realidad el ábaco es la parte superior del astil y tiene sección ovalada. La curva es más ancha en el centro que en los extremos. Las piezas están unidas a la parte superior e inferior del astil mediante espigas colocadas en ranuras en la base y en la curva.

Preservation: The wood is split at the left end of the base and right down shaft. There is a small section missing from the right bottom of the abacus.
