Description
Crudely modelled faience figurine of a hare, with the long ears now missing. The hare is used in the Egyptian hieroglyphic script to write the word for 'existence', and this may explain its use as an amulet, as much as its characteristic speed. Faience amulets of this type are common in the Late Period, after 700 BC.
