Description
Small scale faience figure of Taweret, the goddess of childbirth, depicted striding, with hippopotamus body, lion claws and crocodile-tail back. Such figures began to be produced in faience in large numbers in the Late Period, to be placed over the body during embalming for burial.

Klein faience figuur van Taweret, de godin van de geboorte, schrijdend afgebeeld, met nijlpaardlichaam, leeuwenklauwen en krokodillenstaart. Dergelijke beeldjes werden voor het eerst in grote hoeveelheden in faience geproduceerd in de Late Periode, om tijdens de balseming op het lichaam geplaatst te worden.
Petite figure en faïence de Taouret, déesse de la naissance, représentée dans l'attitude de la marche. Elle a un corps d'hippopotame, des griffes de lion et une queue de crocodile. De grandes quantités de figures en faïence de ce genre sont produites, dès la Basse Époque, pour être placées sur le corps durant l'embaumement.
Kleinformatige Fayencefigur der Taweret, der Göttin der Geburt, in Schreitstellung mit Nilpferdkörper, Löwenklauen und Krokodilschwanzrücken. Solche Figuren wurden in großer Zahl von der Spätzeit an produziert, um sie im Verlauf der Einbalsamierung auf den Körper zu legen.

Tali figure in faience cominciarono ad essere prodotte in grandi quantità in Epoca Tarda, per essere poste sul corpo durante l'imbalsamazione per la sepoltura.
