Description
Fragment of blue glass from an inlay in the form of the djed-pillar, symbol of stability. This was the primary quality of the god Osiris, king of the dead, and the inlay was found in the temple of Osiris at Abydos. Parallels indicate that such inlays were used for compositions in wood or metal backings, for temple furniture and cult equipment.

Fragment blauw glas uit inlegwerk in de vorm van een djed-zuil, symbool van stabiliteit. Dit was de voornaamste eigenschap van de god Osiris, koning der doden. Het inlegwerk is gevonden in de tempel van Osiris te Abydos. Parallellen laten zien dat dergelijke stukken inlegwerk werden gebruikt voor composities op hout of metaal, voor tempelmeubilair en cultusuitrusting.
Fragment de verre bleu provenant d'une incrustation en forme de pilier-djed, symbole de stabilité, qualité première du dieu Osiris, roi des morts. Cette incrustation a été découverte dans le temple d'Osiris, à Abydos. Des parallèles indiquent que de telles incrustations étaient utilisées dans la fabrication d'éléments de mobilier en bois ou en métal appartenant à l'équipement cultuel du temple.
Fragment einer blauen Glaseinlage in Gestalt eines Djed-Pfeilers, des Symbols der Stabilität. Diese war ein Hauptmerkmal des Gottes Osiris, des Königs der Toten, und die Einlegearbeit stammt aus dem Tempel des Osiris in Abydos. Parallelen weisen darauf hin, daß solche Einlegearbeiten für Gegenstände aus Holz oder Metall verwendet wurden, die als Tempelmobiliar und Kultgerät dienten.
Frammento di intarsio in vetro blu avente la forma del pilastro djed, simbolo di stabilità. Questa era la qualità primaria del dio Osiride, re dei morti, e l'intarsio è stato trovato nel Tempio di Osiride ad Abydos. Paralleli indicano che tali intarsi venivano utilizzati per composizioni in legno o sostegni di metallo, per l'arredo dei templi e per l'equipaggiamento del culto.
